The History of Pony Jorgensen

The Pony Jorgensen story started in Chicago in 1903, when Adele Holman teamed up with Danish cabinetmaker Hans Jorgensen and tool salesman Marcus Russ. Together, they combined practical woodworking knowledge, product ideas and a strong business sense to build a company known for reliable, well-made clamps and woodworking tools.

A Pioneering Founder

Adele Holman and the American Dream

At a time when it was extremely unusual for a woman to lead a manufacturing company, Adele Holman was doing exactly that. She famously signed business documents and correspondence as “A. V. Holman”, concealing her gender while building the company into a growing manufacturer of clamping tools.

Under her leadership, the range expanded beyond the original handscrew into products including C-clamps, bar clamps and the now-famous Pony pipe clamp.
